The Job The administrator often is responsible for a firm's overall day-to-day operations.

- Law firm administrators are responsible for ensuring the delivery of legal services by supervising staff and identifying and developing business opportunities.
- They must make sure the law firm complies with federal, state and local legal requirements.
- They also are heavily involved in recruiting and screening prospective attorneys, in addition to managing the paralegal and supports staffs.
A legal administrator's responsibilities are often similar to those of a corporate COO.

Skills
- Ability to identify and analyze complex issues and problems in management areas, and then recommend and implement solutions.
- Manage office functions economically and efficiently, organize work, establish priorities, and maintain good interpersonal relations and communications with lawyers and support staff. Experience managing business operations such as human resources, technology, facilities, finance and marketing.
- Must display excellent supervisory and leadership skills and demonstrate ability to delegate.
Education
- A degree from a recognized college or university.
- Major coursework in business administration or management, finance, human resources, technology or marketing, or comparable work experience recommended.
Legal administrators often manage law office finances, human resources, marketing, and systems and technology.
